2 Week Paleo Cleanse

Ready to jump start your weight loss? Want to reduce some of the bloating in your belly?  Our 2 Week Whole Foods cleanse can help you do that. It is Paleo based in a sense that we eliminate refined and processed foods.  However, this is not the typical high fat, high protein diet that you may associate with the Paleo diet.  Our Holistic Nutritionist on staff takes a whole foods approach to each and every client, assessing their lifestyle and health needs before creating their customized plan.

Inflammatory foods are removed from the diet, vitamin rich anti-inflammatory foods are added. You may find that you experience reduced bloating, weight loss, less cravings, more energy and an overall enhanced sense of wellness.  Our cleanse is whole foods based, meaning we do not prescribe pills or other liquid cleanses.  We do include a raw/vegan protein shake to supplement healthy plant-based protein in the diet and add important pro-biotics as well.

If you’re interested in our two week cleanse, please send an email to Stacey@naturanutritionist.net for more information.

We formulate meal plans that not only help you lose weight by structuring your appropriate calorie count for the day, but we also take into accounts which foods can help you achieve your best health.  Using super foods with immune boosting and anti-inflammatory properties, we can help you with more than just weight loss, we can help you with wellness.

You don’t have to worry about counting calories.  We do that for you and then write your meal plan for you.  You’ll have constant support, guidance and education throughout the entire process.

The Most Preventable Disease Is Obesity

Many may argue whether or not obesity is a disease, but there’s one fact we can ALL agree on; obesity is killing people.

More than one-third (34.9% or 78.6 million) of U.S. adults are obese. (1) Obesity causes deadly, but preventable, diseases and ailments including heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and certain types of cancer.

Obesity doesn’t care if you are rich or poor, college educated, a CEO or unemployed.   And obesity doesn’t care how old you are.  The prevalence of childhood obesity is frightening and sad!  A healthy home starts from the top down.  Parents need to prioritize their own health, eat healthy and make fitness a regular part of their lifestyle if they want their kids to do the same. Do you really think a child will choose a fruit smoothie over a milkshake if mom or dad is enjoying a large ice cream cone?

As adults, we need to set the standards for the younger generation and get control of our health.  Ultimate Fitness in Monmouth County offers several different weight loss programs to help you do just that.  It doesn’t matter if you only have a few pounds to lose or much more. The bottom line is that you can do it and our programs can help!

Our customized weight loss programs include easy to follow meal plans as well as optional personal training or boot camp training at our Monmouth County gym. We set you up for long-term success by teaching you how to plan out and prepare your meals in a healthy way without calorie counting or starvation.

Don’t wait. You don’t need a new year to make a change- all you need is a new day!  Call for more information: 732-428-2111 or send us an email!

Why The Teal Pumpkin Project is Good For ALL Kids

teal-pumpkin-project-monmouth-countyFood allergies are so common today.  When I was little- I barely knew one child that had a dangerous allergy.  Now, it seems unlikely that most adults and children don’t know at least one person (but usually more) who is affected by a food allergy.  These allergies are severe and dangerous.

I never thought of Halloween as a dangerous holiday for kids.  But when I think about food allergies, it suddenly becomes very clear.  For children who are allergic to common candy ingredients like cocoa, milk and especially nuts, Halloween is not only dangerous, but not much fun at all. As kids all we were told is to not eat candy that had open wrappers.  Now kids have to be even more careful, because eating the wrong candy could cost them their life.

With that comes the Teal Pumpkin Project, specifically designed for children with food allergies, but I firmly believe this tradition should extend far beyond children with allergies.  Especially with the growing rates of childhood obesity.

The Teal Pumpkin Project asks households to place a teal pumpkin (it doesn’t have to be an actual pumpkin- it can be a print out of a teal pumpkin) at there door, on their window, anywhere visible to trick or treaters, if they are offering non-food treats such as toys, stickers, crayons, etc.  What an amazing idea and why didn’t we think of this sooner????  This puts all of the fun and safety of Halloween back into the holiday for ALL kids.

The  idea is really taking off with parents and kids. Food Allergy Research & Education‘s first Facebook post about the Teal Pumpkin Project reached 2.7 million people in less than 72 hours, the organization reported. Posts about the project have been shared a combined 31,000 times. And this year marks the first time the idea has been promoted nationally.

Even though the idea was started because of food allergies in children- I think we should encourage more children to take non-food treats for Halloween.  If you question that statement- check out these facts from the CDC on childhood obesity:

  • Childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and quadrupled in adolescents in the past 30 years. (all sources can be seen on CDC.org )1, 2
  • The percentage of children aged 6–11 years in the United States who were obese increased from 7% in 1980 to nearly 18% in 2012. Similarly, the percentage of adolescents aged 12–19 years who were obese increased from 5% to nearly 21% over the same period.1, 2
  • In 2012, more than one third of children and adolescents were overweight or obese.1
  • Overweight and obesity are the result of “caloric imbalance”—too few calories expended for the amount of calories consumed—and are affected by various genetic, behavioral, and environmental factors.5,6

I strongly encourage more Monmouth County residents, schools, business and organizations to go teal this Halloween and offer non-food treats.

NJ Personal Trainer Introduces New 14 and 28 Day Weight Loss Plans

Eddie Albert, a sought out personal trainer in NJ and owner of Ultimate Fitness/Ultimate Fit Zone, has introduced new 14 day and 28 day weight loss programs.  The programs can all be done via email, phone or text, making it possible for anyone, regardless of where they live, to take advantage of his expertise.

The 14 day weight loss program consists of a whole food cleanse that incorporates organic, fresh food for two weeks.  Personal Trainer in NJ | Ultimate Fitness Gym in Ocean NJEddie stresses that this is NOT a starvation or liquid cleanse, but rather a way to cleanse the body of inflammation by eliminating foods that contain antibiotics, hormones, chemicals and additives.  Eddie says this 14 day plan is good for people who want a jump start on their diet or simply need to do a nutritional reset.

The 28 day program is for those who have more weight to lose and are ready to get started on dropping the first 10-15 lbs right now.  Similar to the 14 day program, the 28 day plan contains fresh, real foods like lean proteins, grains, fruits and vegetables.

Each plan offers simple to follow recipes and includes several meals per day.

To learn more about Eddie’s weight loss programs, follow the links below where you will be directed to his boot camp website that details each plan.

How to Choose The Best Diet For You

Now a days it seems like almost everyone wants to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle.  That’s great!  But with so much information out there about different diets and lifestyles, how do you know what to choose? It gets very confusing, especially, listening to the media about health and diet.  One day eggs are bad for you, the next day they aren’t so bad.  One day you should replace white flour with wheat, and then they say that wheat is horrible for you. It’s easy to see why people are confused about what to eat.

There are many different popular diets you could follow to get healthy and be fit.  Some of the most popular right now are Paleo, Vegan/Vegetarian and Mediterranean.  How do you know which one to choose?  Typically we like to first assess someone’s lifestyle, likes and dislikes.  If you hate fish, the Mediterranean diet won’t be good for you.  If you can’t live without your morning cereal, oatmeal or toast- the Paleo diet won’t be a good fit either.  But- you can still enjoy the healthy benefits found in each diet by picking and choosing the components that can work with your lifestyle. We think the best option is to take a look at what your current eating habits are now, see what  needs to be modified in order to lose weight and be healthy, and then pull the best components from each plan to piece together a customized diet that works for YOU.

We love to combine the best elements from Paleo, Vegan/Vegetarian and Mediterranean to create customized weight loss meal plans.  Here are are the reasons why we like to pull a little bit from each one.

Paleo: This diet is spot on in removing refined flours, table sugar and processed food from our diets. There is also a heavy emphasis on eating organic meats, fruit and produce.   Processed meats and other foods are known to cause and aggravate chronic diseases and have little room in a healthy lifestyle.  On the Paleo plan you won’t be eating manufactured garbage like cold cuts and hot dogs.  In our opinion, no one should really be eating these foods anyway.  Did you know that if you are at high risk for cancer, or have been diagnosed with cancer, doctors almost always tell you not to eat processed meats? So why eat them at all?  If we are creating a weight loss meal plan for you, we look to the Paleo plan to formulate a diet free of refined flours, sugar and processed foods.

Vegan/Vegetarian:  You don’t have to be a vegan or a vegetarian to enjoy the many health benefits of this diet. Everyone, and we mean everyone, can benefit from added plant based protein and nutrients in their meal plan.  Vegans eliminate animal based saturated fat from their diet and load up with healthy fats, protein and nutrients from plants.  Many foods in the vegan/vegetarian diet are very powerful in fighting and preventing chronic diseases.  Vegetables are some of the most powerful disease fighting foods on the planet.  Greens and cruciferous veggies are especially high on our list of foods to include in a meal plan.  As well as legumes and a small amount of beans.  We offer easy to follow recipes that create great meals out of high potency foods.

Mediterranean: The Mediterranean diet helps us get more Essential Fatty Acids in our daily meal plan by incorporating nuts, seeds, healthy oils and fish.  Omega 3 and Omega 6 are the fatty acids you hear about daily.  As Americans, we get too much of the Omega 6 acids and not enough of the Omega 3 type.  The Omega 3 fatty acids are found in fish like salmon and sardines as well as in nuts and seeds.  Incorporating some elements of the Mediterranean diet into your meal plan will help boost up the amount of Omega 3 fatty acids in your daily diet.  This diet has long been associated with with heart health and a longer lifespan.

Putting together a healthy meal plan that works with your lifestyle is like piecing together a puzzle.  You have to figure out which components will actually work for you and you have to make sure that the pieces of the puzzle fit together in a healthy way.
